What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
An approach to communication, personal development and educational process was created by Richard Bandler and John Grinder and is used today in many areas from sport, academic, corporate and self-help. NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming and is the practice of understanding how we think and process our thoughts (Neuro), the language patterns we use (Linguistic) and our behaviours (Programming) and how these influence the results we produce.
A key element of NLP is that everyone has their unique internal mental maps of the world as a product of the way they filter and perceive information absorbed through their five senses from the world around them.
NLP uses perceptual, behavioural, and communication techniques to make it easier for people to change their thoughts and actions.
NLP offers a ‘tool-kit’ of techniques and mindset that is based on the study of human excellence. There are many tools in the NLP tool-kit – so we as Practitioners have the choice to blend tools in order to best help our clients. NLP offers practical solutions and focuses on clients making changes at an unconscious level. This leads to a change in their thinking which becomes automatic – they do not have to consciously think about the change or remember to behave or think differently. More importantly, changes made in this way, are long lasting and constructive.
What is Hypnotherapy
Hypnosis is a state of relaxation, it can be very deep much like the state you experience just before you fall asleep at night time or lighter. During hypnosis, it is much easier for the brain to listen to and process information it is given because the conscious mind is less active. Hypnotherapy is safe because it is a relaxed state that people already utilize while learning, watching television or doing something creative.
You will never be out of control, switch off or be in a coma type state. The conscious mind will always be there in the background so that if anything is said which is out of alignment, or if for instance the fire alarm went off, they would be fully aware of it and wake up. When I use hypnosis, I will always ask for your written permission to do so beforehand and will fully explain how hypnosis works.
What is Time Line Therapy
Tad James, M.S., Ph.D. said:
“Your ‘Time Line’ is how you unconsciously store your memories or how you unconsciously know the difference between a memory from the past and a projection of the future. Behavioural change in an individual takes place at an unconscious level. People don’t change consciously. The Time Line Therapy® process allows you to work at the unconscious level and release the effects of past negative experiences and change ‘inappropriate’ programming in minutes rather than days, months or years.”
His model of Time Line Therapy is a collection of techniques that free a person from the effects of the past and no longer project them to his/her future – fast, effective and longlasting.
What is NLP Coaching
Coaching can be a blend of NLP, Hypnotherapy and/or Timeline Therapy where, depending on each client, the practitioner will assess and use what way forward will be the most useful. Coaching is a fantastic tool for setting goals, clearing obstacles, and shaking up limiting beliefs. It helps with meeting and exceeding goals, both professionally and personally.
